yay!!
my new nike+ sensor came in! i am so very excited. now my mini me can stop pestering me to log a run.
while i'm on the topic of running... i'd like to admit a couple guilty pleasures:
*lady gaga - poker face (it totally reminds me of the skating rink in 6th grade- holla)
*jesse mccartney - how do you sleep
i guess it's no secret that i love catchy pop songs. and i'm not afraid to hit repeat. :)
also, the new eminem song makes me want to pull my hair out.

happy valentine's day!
well, i learned something about myself today. i do not enjoy making cut out cookies and also do not like decorating them. we finished about 8 or 9 cookies and now the kitchen is a disaster and i have no intention of tackling it any time soon. this project was just not as fun as making a cake. if anyone wants about a pound of sugar cookie dough that's wrapped up in my fridge, you are welcome to it! anyway, happy valentine's day to everyone!!

currently.
my sensor in my nike+ setup finally died after 1 year 4 months, 217 runs and 570.65 miles. that's NOT including the last few runs that have gone unrecorded. i'm having trouble coping... besides, does a run even count if its not recorded on a website saying you did so? will your body even burn the calories if there's no proof you actually exercised? my replacement sensor is in the mail... i can hardly wait for that little package! especially so my little mini me on the left sidebar will stop mocking me for not logging any runs. hmph. :/
side note: valentine's day is 3 days away! stay tuned for heart shaped cookies. i am very excited to make my first batch of homemade rolled sugar cookies... ever!
also, tristan and i's (is that correct grammar?) 'official' 1 year anniversary is on sunday. that's right! very exciting. it really doesn't seem like it's already been a year although i feel like i've known him forever. that doesn't really make sense... oh well. happiness!

my favorite fruit cobbler
this recipe is great with any kind of fruit, whether it be canned or fresh. my favorite is peaches... but blueberries, blackberries or any mixture would be delish as well. it isn't your typical cobbler with a rolled pie dough crust, the batter in it makes a really fluffy breadlike topping that soaks up all the fruit flavors. it's really fast.. and extremely good, give it a try!
pour melted butter in 13x9 dish (clearly, no need to use nonstick spray). mix first 4 ingredients and pour over butter, then arrange fruit on top evenly. sprinkle cinnamon and sugar on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until bread looks golden brown.
fruit cobbler
2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
2 cups milk
4 tsp baking powder
2 sticks unsalted butter, melted
4 cups fruit (your preference-- drain the fruit if its canned!)
cinnamon & sugar for sprinkling
2 cups sugar
2 cups milk
4 tsp baking powder
2 sticks unsalted butter, melted
4 cups fruit (your preference-- drain the fruit if its canned!)
cinnamon & sugar for sprinkling

allow to cool for about 15 minutes before serving so the custard has a chance to set up. this is delish with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, BOTH...or by itself!
now, it's time to clean up! :)

bobo's experience.
last night was definitely a trip. a bunch of us were at flip's having a good time and the subject of "bobo's chicken" came up. i was a little upset that, being a huge fan of fried chicken, i had never heard of such a magical place. stories of fried chicken wings fresh out of the greaser, french fries doused in honey and little nuggets of fry bread deliciousness were exchanged with true excitement. and then the real story surfaced... you may get shot at bobo's. your life may end. the men would go fetch the chicken with bullets skimming by their heads while i sat in the car and minded my own business. and no, they do not take visa. ok so they thoroughly scared the hell out of me that i was going to lose my life at this gagsta trailer hooked up to a truck on the corner of 23rd & MLK blvd (which, by the way, is only open from like midnight to 5am).. but it was decided that we would, in fact, go to bobo's.
fast forward 2 hours... we cram in the car, AJ crammed in the very back of the 4runner because there are so many of us dying for some chick'n. we drive down 23rd... and if you know okc you know the moment you drive past the capitol you are in serious ghettoville. we pull up to bobo's soon after... seriously, you have to see this place. i was scared. it was this huge red trailer that they sell the chicken out of. there were these bright flood lights illuminating the whole place... which was filled with cars but only 10 people or so were actually standing in line. the rest of the people were just sitting in their cars, most of which i think were probably devouring a honey covered mess in the drivers seat. anyway, the boys went and got the chicken, and we hurried the hell out of there. it was such a hardcore place, and there is no doubt of its 'urban' status.
the chicken: i think i'll call it fry fest '09, seriously, i don't think i've ever seen 5 men consume chicken like this. once the styrofoam containers were ripped open all you could hear were moans of pleasure and smacking lips filled with chickn grease. it was fantastic.
the chicken was good. it was really smokey... i don't know, try it for yourself (disclaimer: not my fault if you get shot). i still personally like eischen's better. it really isn't comparable to eischen's because it tastes totally different. the guys were really loving it though. it was a hilarious night though
