german chocolate cake... yum!

i was terrified to try my first german chocolate cake... it turned out delicious!!

melt butter, sugar & vanilla extract together...

slowly whisk in egg yolks & evaporated milk...

stir in cornstarch and bring to a boil to thicken...

 measure chopped pecans...

sweetened, flaked coconut... 

then take boiled mixture off the stove & stir in pecans & coconut...

until it's thick, like this!

Sweetheart's Story

Last week we were notified of a greyhound suffering from severe animal abuse in a nearby Animal Shelter. We weren't sure if she was strong enough to make it, as she was in terrible condition and weighed only 31 lbs. FASThound of Seminole, OK made the call that she had the will to live and they had the resources to save her, and now she is in their care and doing better and better every day! Thank you so much to FASThound for caring for this sweet girl and spreading the word about her amazing strength and will to live. In light of her beautiful personality, she has been named Sweetheart. They have started a blog to share her story and update everyone on her rehabilitation as it progresses.
